Glen Ellyn Village Budget

On Monday the Village Board approved cuts in Special Programs Fund (SPF).

We wanted to clarify how these cuts fit into the broader budget issues and the proposed sales tax increase. According to village manager Steve Jones, these cuts are unrelated to the proposed Home Rule Sales Tax (HRST) increase and the current General Fund budget deficit.

At the March 23, 2009 village board meeting, the Board approved $323,300 in cuts to the Glen Ellyn's Special Programs Fund (SPF) Budget.

Here is a summary of cuts to narrow the current deficit in the SPF budget:

1. Postage / Printing / Professional Services – Other (Total Cuts = $36,800)
Includes transition to a quarterly Village Newsletter from the current bi-monthly frequency. Also eliminates the 2010 Village Calendar.

2. Contribution / Historical Society (Total Cuts = $35,000)
Cut back to FY05/06 level.
