GEL SHARE: Glen Ellyn Police Department Residential Security Survey

A Residential Security Survey is an inspection of your home, performed by a specially trained police officer, in an effort to identify areas in which you could improve the physical security of your residence. Many security features may be discussed, ranging from simply trimming shrubbery, to changing locks and upgrading exterior lighting.

Recommendations may be made to improve the security of your home. There are no obligations to the resident to perform any of the recommendations.

GEL NEWS: Glen Ellyn Police Department Investigating Car Burglaries

The Glen Ellyn Police Department is investigating a series of vehicle burglaries that have occurred in the Village. In all cases the vehicles were left unlocked by the owners, and the burglaries occurred during the night. Small electronics, purses and change are among the property taken from these vehicles. In one case the owner left the keys in the vehicle and it was stolen.

During the month of April, 18 car burglaries have been reported to police.

The Glen Ellyn Police Department encourages people to remove valuables and lock their unattended vehicles.

GEL NEWS: District 41 Dismisses Bus Driver After incident

According to District 41 communications, today a Churchill teacher found an index card that fell out of a child's backpack. The card turned out to be a hand-written advertisement for a musician who is also one of our bus drivers. The card contained the driver's name, his email address and his facebook.com and myspace.com addresses. Other children on that route were also found to have cards. How they obtained them is not fully clear at this time.

The economic landscape is affecting many towns across the nation and, unfortunately, the Village of Glen Ellyn is not immune.

If there’s one important topic we’d want to share with everyone in Glen Ellyn, this one’s it. It’s not the most sexy topic (unless you're into dressing and undressing lots of numbers!), but it certainly affects everyone who lives in Glen Ellyn or owns a home or business.
