For 39 years, the College of DuPage has been a part of the village of Glen Ellyn. But on Wednesday, COD's board of trustees formally endorsed a resolution seeking to disconnect the 273-acre campus from the municipality. GEL SHARE: Dupage Republican Party Head Randy Remey Guilty of DUI

The head of the DuPage County Republican Party pleaded guilty Monday to a DUI charge stemming from an August drunken driving arrest.

State Rep. Randy Ramey (R-Carol Stream) was sentenced to one year of court supervision and fined $1,750, Carol Stream Police Chief Kevin Orr said. Ramey also was ordered to undergo counseling, perform 100 hours of community service and attend a victim impact panel.

Glen Ellyn’s Backyard BBQ Cook-Off returns for a third year of food, fun and festivity in a relaxed, downhome atmosphere. Glen Ellyn’s 3rd Annual Backyard BBQ Cook-Off Competition takes place Saturday, September 10th in the Glenwood Avenue lot in downtown Glen Ellyn. The event is open to the public from 10:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. and there is no cost to attend. Judging is from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs, relax, and hang out for the afternoon.
