GEL SHARE: District 41 Addresses Response to H1N1

This year promises to be a challenging one from a number of perspectives. While many of these challenges are exciting, those posed by H1N1 influenza are producing some anxiety.

As the year unfolds, health officials are learning more about the disease, vaccine is becoming available, and the flu has become widespread in our communities. School districts are working hand-in-hand with the DuPage County Health Department (DCHD) to promote prevention, provide accurate information and work together to help safeguard the health of our community.

Diamante Montessori School Plan

On October 15, 2009, DuPage County Circuit Court Judge Thomas C. Dudgeon dismissed the claims against the Village of Glen Ellyn and individual Village officials in the first amended complaint brought by residents challenging the special use permit for the Diamante Montessori preschool at 625 Hillside Avenue.

The following is the response from Glen Ellyn Park District President Sandra Minogue regarding GEL's inquiry about how the GEPD Board solicits public input:

Having attended several Village Board meetings and recently attended the latest Glen Ellyn Park District Board meeting, I was curious about some differences in how the two Boards handle or solicit public input during its meetings.

It seems the Glen Ellyn Park District currently limits public participation to one 3 minute time slot per person towards the beginning of its meetings. It does not appear that the GEPD board solicits public input thereafter during agenda topics discussed by the board during its meetings, thus limiting public interaction and input.
