Irish Group Danú at the MAC March 14

Traditional Irish music group Danú will perform at the McAninch Arts Center at College of DuPage, 425 Fawell Blvd. in Glen Ellyn, at 7 p.m. Sunday, March 14.

Formed in 1994 at the Oireachtas Festival in Dungarvan County Waterford, Danú stays true to the traditional sounds of Irish music, but group members aren’t afraid to bring their own inspiring approach to their performance.

Danú was twice voted Best Traditional Group by BBC Radio 2’s Folk Awards.

Tickets are $36 for adults, $34 for seniors and $26 for College of DuPage students and youth.

Susan Werner and John Gorka at the MAC March 26

Singer/songwriters Susan Werner and John Gorka share the bill at an 8 p.m. performance Friday, March 26, at the McAninch Arts Center at College of DuPage, 425 Fawell Blvd. in Glen Ellyn.

Chicago-based Werner is a mainstay of contemporary folk music and has recorded nine albums, ranging from the traditional folk sound to cabaret jazz and pop. Her latest album, “Classics,” features new arrangements of songs from the 1960s and 1970s by various artists, including Stevie Wonder, Paul Simon, Paul McCartney and Marvin Gaye.

Kenny Barron Trio at the MAC March 12

Jazz pianist, composer and arranger Kenny Barron will perform with the Kenny Barron Trio at 8 p.m. Friday, March 12, at the McAninch Arts Center at College of DuPage, 425 Fawell Blvd. in Glen Ellyn.

Named “Best Pianist” by the Jazz Journalists Association for the past four years, Barron began his career as a teenager and has played and recorded with Dizzy Gillespie, Mel Melvin, Roy Haynes and others.

The nine-time Grammy Award nominee collaborated extensively with Stan Getz throughout the 1980s and has recorded dozens of albums.

Fiddlers 4 Perform at the MAC Oct. 11

The super group of the fiddling world, Fiddlers 4 take to the McAninch Arts Center Mainstage for a 7 p.m. performance Sunday, Oct. 11, at College of DuPage, 425 Fawell Blvd. in Glen Ellyn.

Group members include BeauSoleil leader, Michael Doucet, Turtle Island String Quartet founding member and progressive bluegrass champion, Darol Anger, music master. Bruce Molsky, and cellist Rushad Eggleston.

SONES DE MEXICO PERFORM OCT. 4 AT THE MAC

Latin Grammy nominee Sones de Mexico, Chicago’s premiere Mexican folk ensemble, returns to the McAninch Arts Center at College of DuPage for a 3 p.m. Mainstage performance on Sunday, Oct. 4.

Formed in 1994, the ensemble has developed and popularized original arrangements of Mexican folk music, experimenting with cross-cultural sounds that incorporate Irish, folk, country, jazz and rock music.

Lauded for their ability to move seamlessly between styles and instruments, Sones de Mexico remains faithful to the cultural authenticity of the music, while adding their unique flair.

GREAT BIG SEA AT THE MCANINCH ARTS CENTER OCT. 3

Juno-nominated Celtic-rock band Great Big Sea brings their solid original tunes and rock interpretations of traditional Newfoundland folk songs to the McAninch Arts Center at College of DuPage, 425 Fawell Blvd. in Glen Ellyn, during an 8 p.m. Mainstage performance Saturday, Oct. 3.

JIM BRICKMAN PERFORMS AT THE MAC OCT. 2

Skilled pianist Jim Brickman brings his most memorable songs and moving melodies to the McAninch Arts Center at College of DuPage, 425 Fawell Blvd. in Glen Ellyn, during an 8 p.m. performance on Friday, Oct. 2.

The Cleveland native is best known for his songs “The Gift,” “Love of My Life” and “Valentine.” During his career, Brickman has earned six gold and platinum-selling albums, as well as three No. 1 and 12 Top 10 Adult contemporary radio hits.

The Fab Four Open MAC's 2009-2010 Season Sept. 12

Aug. 12, 2009 – With glowing reviews from everyone ranging from George Harrison’s sister to Monty Python’s Eric Idle, the ultimate Beatles tribute band, “The Fab Four,” brings the best of mop top mania to the McAninch Arts Center at College of DuPage during an 8 p.m. performance Saturday, Sept. 12.

With an incredible attention to detail, The Fab Four performs record-perfect renditions of The Beatles’ most popular hits.

MAC HOSTS JAZZ AT SUNSET AUG. 29

The McAninch Arts Center (MAC) and 90.9 fm WDCB – Public Radio from College of DuPage will sponsor the annual Jazz at Sunset outdoor concert at 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, in the MAC Courtyard at the Glen Ellyn campus, 425 Fawell Blvd.

Now in its 18th year, Jazz at Sunset offers jazz fans an opportunity to enjoy live music in an open-air setting and is simulcast on WDCB.

CLUB MAC SERIES RETURNS FOR 2009-2010 SEASON

Club MAC, the intimate, cabaret series launched in 2006 at the McAninch Arts Center at College of DuPage returns for the 2009-2010 season with a host of new artists, including bluegrass, folk, a contemporary string quartet, blues, and even a jug band.

All Club MAC performances are housed in the 200-seat Theatre 2 and begin at 8 p.m.
