Metra Commuter

Glen Ellyn commuters could be impacted by the U.S. House Ways and Means Committee decision to cut $450 million a year for CTA, Metra and Pace capital improvement projects.

According to Crain's Chicago Business, Chicago-area mass-transit leaders are screaming at the top of their lungs about a bill awaiting a vote in the U.S. House that they say could cost the Chicago Transit Authority, Metra and Pace as much as $450 million a year in capital funds.

It was an all around bad day for Metra West Line commuters Friday as two unrelated incidents delayed morning and evening rush hour train service.

On Friday morning, a man was struck and killed about 6:45 a.m. by outbound train #15 near the intersection of Kilbourn Avenue and Kinzie Street, Metra Spokesman Tom Miller said.

The incident halted Metra trains on the Union Pacific/West line. While Metra service announcements in Glen Ellyn at 7:35a.m. indicated uncertain delay times and an indefinite stoppage, Metra trains were moving as of 7:50 a.m., Miller said.
